Dandelion and Driftwood – Hendra
It has been nearly a year now since the much anticipated Dandelion & Driftwood opened its doors to the public for the first time. I am glad I waited to do a full write up on this cafe because this cafe is not like any other cafe Brisbane has seen. Owners Peter and Penny Wolff are without a doubt two of the most passionate people I have ever met in the coffee industry. There are many different ideas on what makes for a serious specialty coffee shop and when you step inside Dandelion and Driftwood its immediately clear that these people take coffee seriously. Dandelion & Driftwood offer quite a few different methods of drinking coffee which makes each visit a little different. They offer Chemex, Aeropress, Trifecta or Syphon which are all made with the world famous “uber boiler” shown in the picture above. [ I will be adding new up to date pictures very shortly. ]
If your like me then you’ll agree that Dandelion & Driftwood is like Disneyland for coffee geeks. This cafe is different, it has an ultra modern vibe and the attention to detail is quite simply amazing. You’ll notice the four grinders sitting on the counter offering up four choices of coffee beans for you to try. There are two house blends, the first is called “Dandelion” and it is specifically blended to the appeal to your feminine side while the “Driftwood” blend is stronger and blended to appeal to your manly side. The other two grinders are reserved for single origins. All of which are roasted by Peter Wolff and his team at Wolff Coffee Roasters.
Whether your a seasoned coffee geek or new to the world of specialty coffee Peter, Penny and the team will make you feel right at home. Dandelion & Driftwood is without a doubt one of the best specialty coffee houses in Brisbane. They have most certainly raised the bar. Oh yeah and they do tea to.
